Tower Paddle Boards – 9’10” Adventurer Inflatable SUP Review
For beginners looking for an affordable board you should consider this one. It’s not fancy but its basic design has helped keep the price down. The shorter design means it doesn’t take up much room. This is one of the advantages of inflatable boards over traditional hard boards. And this one is small enough that if you want to keep it inflated in your boat shed in between uses, you can. Just don’t leave it in direct sunlight. Although short, the Adventurer has enough width at 32” (81 cm) to help keep it stable. It can also hold up to an impressive 400lbs (181 kg).
I was a little disappointed that this board didn’t come with a SUP bag, but I guess that’s another way they’ve kept the price down. There are plenty of SUP bags around on the market that you can purchase separately or you can just use the nylon strap to secure it and carry it without a bag. It also doesn’t have a bungee tie down are to secure your drink bottle and other belonging. Being a smaller board you probably wouldn’t want to take anything that would take up space on your board anyway.
Another thing to be aware of is the centre fin. You’ll need to attach this if you’re using your board on flat water to give you better guidance. It’s a little bit fiddly so I recommend you read the instructions first. There’s a special hex screw tool you need to secure the fin. The good thing about this is that once it’s attached, it’s not going anywhere. The down side, don’t lose that tool!
All in all this is a nifty little board with a nifty little price tag. It doesn’t come with all the bells and whistles but it rides smoothly and can hold a decent amount of weight. What it lacks in fancy gadgets and glamorous design it makes up for in reliability. With the centre fin attached it handles well on smooth water and is easier to steer than I had first thought it would.
